Stay at Home-ista House Tour Guest Post

I would like to introduce you to Jessica from Stay at Home-ista. I'm so excited that she will be our guest today. Please visit her blog for more details about the house that she designed herself. You will love the view from her home.

Hi, I'm Jessica from Stay at Home-ista. I blog about life as a stay at home mom, which can cover a lot of bases! Mostly I focus on home design (you'll get to see the house below), food, and parenting tips like how to survive long car rides:)

I was delighted when Darline asked me to do a guest post here on South Shore Mommy. My husband and I met in architecture school at Harvard, so when the opportunity presented itself to build a house of our own we jumped at the chance. Of course, that "jump" lasted 4 years from start to finish, but now that it is done, I know every detail of the house and love every bit of it. Come on in.

That's the view from our deck. The view was the main reason we bought this property, it's just stunning to wake up everyday to see the San Francisco Bay, and sunsets over the Golden Gate bridge are beyond words.

Looking down the gallery towards the kitchen.

The Living Room with my favorite fireplace and mantle. Plus the TV hangs off the wall without wires, so cool.

The library is right off of the kitchen and play area, very convenient for mediating any disputes that may occur. And when I need to change a diaper, I just head to the Powder Room.

Then upstairs...

The nursery which opens off of the upstairs loft sitting area:

I made the heart art with my daughter to brighten up the space. To the right of the awesome decal, is the master bedroom.

We finally brought a little color in with some art prints above the bed.

Oh, I could just live in the master bath. There is marble everywhere, which gives it great texture, and the three windows bring in a ton of light. Quite the way to wake up in the mornings!

Thanks for stopping by! Please come visit me at Stay at Home-ista for more!

Just a Touch of Gray House Tour Guest Post

Touch of Gray

I would like to introduce you to Rachel from Just a Touch of Gray. I'm very excited to have her here as my guest. Please make sure you visit her blog for her before and after posts. You will love her beautiful inspiring home!

Hi all! I'm Rachel Gray from Just a Touch of Gray, and I'm excited to be here at South Shore Mommy today! Darline has asked me to share a tour of my home but first I want to give you a little background.

In the summer of 2010 my husband and I bought a 1960 ranch from its original owners. Yes, that's right, we're the second owners! You can probably imagine it's "original" state. To say this house needed a little help would be an understatement. So, as my tag line reads, we've been dedicated to fix things up "one room at a time".

Now on to the fun part - the pictures!

This is our living room....

The {before} of this room was brown, brown, and more brown. Now it feels like a breath of fresh air.

Just behind the couch is our dining room...

We used the same {whitewash treatment} used in the living room area and my husband actually built the dining room table from wood we tore out of the house.

After you make your way down our hallway...

You'll find our master bedroom...

Our goal was to have a neutral, relaxing place to end our nights and start our mornings.

And if you enter a little hallway between our closets...

You'll find out newly revamped master bathroom...

And the final "after" room on your tour today is our guest room...

I hope you enjoyed our tour! I invite you to come visit me over at {Just a Touch of Gray}!

Thanks for having me, Darline!
-Rachel-

Work at Home with South Shore Mommy

SSM Guest Post Banner

Hello! My name is Darline and I’m  a Shaklee Independent Distributor Super Gold Ambassador
I wanted to take a moment to tell you about the work at home business that I have and learn a little about  you as well. :)
When I was having a baby I started using nontoxic cleaning products in my home. When I found out about the Shaklee Get Clean line that is when I  decided to not only to start using them but to become  a Gold Ambassador-Shaklee Independent Distributor.  I feel as though that decision has made a difference in my life and I want to continue to make a difference in other peoples lives.  One of the biggest differences is the cost savings!  We also love the products and how effective they are. We have switched over to almost all of the lines that Shaklee offers and we still can’t wait to try more!
I felt so strongly about the products that I wanted to share them with my family, friends and other Moms (so they would know what I have learned about these products).
They are always safe, always work and are always green.Do you have dreams of  owning your own business?
Are you looking for a way to earn extra money?
Would you like to be a stay-at-home Mom?
Do you want to get ahead by paying off debt or saving {for a vacation, dream home, new car, new baby or your child’s college education}?
Here is  a little about the business that I chose and about how the products work:

Do you live a busy lifestyle?
Do you use supplements?
Do you plan on getting pregnant?

Did you know that Shaklee is the #1 Nutrition Company in the US?

Do you live an active lifestyle?
Are you a runner?

Does your baby take vitamins?
Does you baby like liquid vitamins (Shaklee has a powder for babies)?

Do your kids take vitamins?

Do you have to purchase drinking water?
Do you want to save money on bottled water?
Do you want to avoid having to recycle?

Do you practice daily skin care?
Do you moisturize?
Do you wear sun protection?

Do you want to live a healthy lifestyle?
Do you want to reach your weight loss goals?

Valentine's Day Craft Guest Post

I would like to introduce you to my friend Colleen from So Much to Say. She is a very busy Mommy and I'm glad that she is here as my guest.

Hi South Shore Mommy readers!!!  I am Colleen from So Much to Say
I am excited to be posting here today with two quick Valentine's Day craft ideas.
A little about me . . . . . I'm a mom of two. I spend my days working as a lawyer which I love.  When I am not at work, you can find me with my two beautiful kids beside me.   My favorite thing in the world is hearing my littles giggle and cuddling up with them on the couch each night.   I also love coffee, wine, lists, organizing, party-planning, and decorating (and re-decorating!) our home.  I love to read blogs although admittedly they fill my head with ideas and crafts that I obsessively  keep track of on Pinterest.  I blog about many things like our life experiences, our home, projects, recipes, crafts, and sometimes just our ordinary days at home.
I am going to admit (although shamefully) that I have never used burlap before. Isn’t that sad?  For someone who likes to try crafts it’s crazy to think I haven’t jumped on this bandwagon – especially given how cheap it is!!!!  I recently bought a bunch and by that I mean about 3 yards (clearly measuring is not one of my strong points and there will be TONS of burlap projects in my near future). I thought we could make one of those cute Valentine's Day banners seen out
 there in blog land.
Here is the finished project:

I started out cutting strips of burlap roughly 5x7 for each pennant.  We had the fabric Valentines hearts on hand so we took the easy route and used those as the center. You could easily use
scrapbook paper, fabric or felt.

I had leftover Martha Stewart baker's twine that I used to hang it. I took each piece as pictured below and folded it over the ribbon and hot-glued it in place.

The hearts were adhesive so those were easy enough to put on. My little helper E did those.  I found some ribbon in my stash and tied those on every other pennant for some added contrast.

What do you think?
This whole project was very inexpensive.  I think I paid like $5.00 for the 3 yards of burlap and the other items I had on hand.
The next project I saw on pinterest and thought it would be a cute addition to the mantle for valentine's day. I bought the buttons at Michael's, the frame I had and the burlap is mentioned above.  I free-handed a heart shape and cut it out of a piece of paper. I then started the trim of the heart with the buttons using my glue gun. Once the trim was done I used started putting the rest of the buttons into the heart shape.

The cute little frame next to it was done by my little girl!
If you stop on over I would love to hear from you. Thanks so much for reading and
a big thanks to South Shore Mommy for having me!!
Have a great weekend!
